"When we liberate ourselves from the expectation that we must have all things figured out, we enter a sanctuary of empathy." |
You are welcome here exactly as you are.
Here are some bits of wisdom that describe my approach in counseling:
Counseling happens at your own pace.
We can exist outside of labels and diagnosis.
"If you are always trying to be normal you will never know how amazing you can be." Maya Angelou
"The thing that is really hard, and really amazing, is giving up on being perfect and beginning the work of becoming yourself." ~ Anna Quindlen
"Courage starts by showing up and letting ourselves be seen." Brene Brown
There can be room for humor in counseling.
Counseling is a participatory process. Your healing requires your participation.
"The creative process is a process of surrender, not of control." Julia Cameron
It is not the job of a counselor to have the answers, but to help you hear your own inner wisdom.
"The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change." Carl Rogers
Spending time and energy on health and well-being is a good investment.
The more we can be ourselves the less "symptoms" we have.
We all need help to excavate, reclaim, and reignite our lost voices, precious dreams, yearnings, and unique gifts.
We were not meant to do healing work alone.
"Change is inevitable, but transformation is by conscious choice." Heatherash Amara
"A difficult situation is not a problem to be solved, but a door to be opened. may I open that door." William Taegel
Nature is a guide and healer.

About me.
I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) in Vermont and a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) in Idaho. My practice is a woven blend of ancient and modern therapeutic approaches. I work with adults of all ages who are creatives, facilitators, counselors, makers, educators, empaths, the spiritually curious, highly sensitive people (HSP), and people who want a supportive space for life's beginnings and endings.
I was born and raised among tall pine trees and gulf coast waters. I attended the University of Texas at Austin for an undergraduate degree and worked for a few years upon graduating. Then I made a big life change (or life changed me in a big way) and I pursued a masters degree in clinical counseling psychology at La Salle University. I studied mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR) through Penn Medicine, mindful self-compassion training (MSC) through the Institute for Spirituality and Health, Toltec philosophy with HeatherAsh Amara, and eco-psychology with Jyl Scott-Reagan and Drs. William Taegel and Lillie Rowden. I also taught yoga and studied reiki energy healing.
My approach is humanistic, intuitive, and person-centered. Through my work I have come to view that our personalities are made up of an ecology of interactive parts. Imbalances can occur when we over-identify with any one of these parts and we can gain clarity when we include all aspects of our experience with curious, non-judgmental awareness. When our nervous system is calm, it is easier to connect with our wise, still, intuitive self. For many people, myself included, self-compassion practice has been a useful tool to navigate change and uncertainty.
I love to hike, read fantasy and historical fiction, paint, swim, make soup, eat soup, take naps, and attempt to read all my email. I use she/her pronouns. I've lived in several amazing places: Boise, Houston, Austin, and Philadelphia. I now live in East Fairfield, Vermont with my partner, two fur-babes, and many many plants. If you are looking for my spiritual mentorship practice, please hop on over to www.innerresourcecollective.com.

I am willing and able to address the specialized needs of LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC folx such as the traumatizing effect of discrimination, racial trauma, generational/historical trauma, and microaggressions. The ability of a clinician to accurately assess and understand their clients' challenges are the essential first step to building a therapeutic relationship.
